Man in Connecticut strikes another with vehicle following dispute

On Behalf of | Jun 4, 2019 | Firm News, Personal Injury Claims |

A collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian is frightening enough when it occurs unintentionally. It is even more disturbing when the driver deliberately attempts to run a pedestrian over. Such an attempt allegedly occurred recently in New Haven, Connecticut. Following a dispute between two men, one apparently struck the other with a car, then reportedly fled the scene.

The dispute occurred in the early morning hours in the parking lot of a gas station near the cross streets of Sherman and Whalley Avenues. It is unclear what prompted the dispute between the two men, but it appears that they were not the only people on the scene at the time. A car with a busted tire and broken window reportedly remained at the scene after authorities arrived and took the pedestrian to the hospital. This vehicle contained three women and a small child, according to accounts of witnesses who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The pedestrian’s injuries were reportedly critical at the time of his hospitalization. More recent updates as to his condition are not available. Authorities have not expressly indicated whether they intend to press charges against the driver. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

People who have suffered injuries as a result of the deliberate actions of others may be eligible to receive compensation as part of a personal injury claim. This may be true regardless of whether or not the other person also ends up facing criminal charges. It may be a good idea to consult an attorney for information and counsel pertaining to specific circumstances.
