What can cause motorcycle accidents?

Let’s first take a look at the three different categories that are the most common when it comes to the cause of motorcycle accidents.

The first common cause is other drivers. Understandably, other vehicles on the road pose a much bigger threat to you than you do to them, as motorcycles are much smaller. For example, visibility issues can cause drivers to merge into your lane without seeing you. You may even be hit in a sudden U-turn or turn, rear-ended by a misjudgment of distance, or run into due to distraction.

The second most common cause is your municipality. Municipal liability includes dangers you face because of the city itself, like debris or city equipment blocking traffic lanes. If you have ever gone over a bump that was not warned for by a “motorcycles use caution” sign, that is another example. Poor placement or the absence of barriers and road markings can also count, especially if they cause confusion.
